The Right to Life and the Dignity of the Human Person
Human life is sacred. The dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society.
Catholic teaching about the dignity of life calls us to
oppose abortion, euthanasia, human cloning and destruction of human embryos for research
oppose the use of the death penalty
oppose torture, genocide, unjust war and attacks against noncombatants
oppose racism, discrimination, sexism
overcome poverty, sufferings and conditions that demean life
revere the lives of persons dying in war and from starvation
revere all human beings as children of God.
